Last night 7 LifeQuesters loaded a van full of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, donuts and bottles of water and headed to downtown KC on a mission! In between worship experiences yesterday, the lobby was buzzing with people adopting kids to provide toys for on Christmas Eve, adopting community organizations to bless with cookies and last, but definitely not least, making hundreds of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to take to those less fortunate. So last night we drove through the streets of Kansas City looking for people who were out in the cold to give a brown bag full of sandwiches and donuts! Pastor Chris challenged us at church to ‘share our lunch’ just like the little boy did when his five loaves and two fish fed nearly 15,000 men, women and children and watch how God will multiply what we give to Him. One man we found at a bus stop said it was the first thing he had eaten all day (this was about 8:30 pm) – then we were able to give him a ride to the City Union Mission where they allowed him to spend the night. Riding home I couldn’t help but think about one of the guys riding in the van with us. You see, about 3 years ago a man walked into LifeQuest who was homeless and feeling like things were pretty hopeless. But God worked a miracle in his life and today he has a home, his family back, a part time job, and serves at LifeQuest! And last night, it was that same man who rode with us and helped us find the places where the homeless might be hanging out. I challenge anyone who doesn’t believe in miracles to hang around LifeQuest for awhile. The life change stories are amazing and how blessed I am to be a part of it!
